FAQ
How do I get an API key?
Sign up for a free LookupFox account, then go to Dashboard → API keys and click “Generate new key.” The full key is shown once, at creation — copy it somewhere safe. We only ever store a hash of it after that, so if you lose it, revoke it and generate a new one.
How do credits work?
Every account starts with 100 free credits. Each email verification — whether made through the API, the dashboard's single lookup tool, a bulk upload, or the Google Sheets add-on — costs exactly 1 credit, deducted only when a result is returned. Your current balance is always visible in the dashboard sidebar.
How do I use the Google Sheets add-on?
Install the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, open it from a spreadsheet's Extensions menu, and point it at the column containing your email addresses. It sends those addresses to your LookupFox account for verification and writes the results back into the sheet, using the same credits as your API account.
Are there rate limits?
Yes — requests are rate-limited per account (not per key) to keep the API fair and reliable for everyone. If you're rate-limited, the API returns a 429 response; wait a moment and retry. If your use case needs a higher limit, email us and we'll take a look.
What does a verification result actually check?
Syntax, domain/MX records, and live mailbox deliverability, plus flags for disposable and role-based (e.g. admin@, support@) addresses.
How do I delete my account or data?
Email us at the address below and we'll delete your account, API keys, and verification history. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we retain and why.
